Changing Times

I was told that the highest authority is the government. This conversation that I had the other day was very interesting. What happens when your government changes the rules? What happens when they lower the standards? Do you follow right along and let all of the political ups and downs manifest in your personal life?

The government changes but the Word of God doesn’t. One of the cool realities that I have as a Christian is that I have the ultimate highest authority in my life. The government isn’t the moral authority, Jesus is. And here is some good news… “Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). This means that I do not have to dance around with the changing laws of the land as they relate to my morality.

The Bible says, “against such things, there is no law” in regards to the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). There is no law that can come against “Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control”. Nothing, nothing at all. Who would even try to argue against it?

If the highest authority in your life is God, then look to Him for guidance and direction. As policies and laws change, use wisdom. Be grounded in the Word and do not be moved away from what is right (righteous).

Times change but the Unstoppable Word of God doesn’t.
