It is Thanksgiving in Canada. What a great time to reflect on all the things that you have to be thankful for. My pastor mentioned a little bit about the origins of the Canadian thanksgiving. After a quick look online (Wikipedia) I found out that an arctic explorer, Martin Frobisher, celebrated the first Canadian Thanksgiving in 1578. This is 40 years before the Pilgrims arrived.

I was listening to an expert on the radio the other day. They talked about all the benefits of being thankful. To sum it up, if you are thankful you will be physically and mentally more healthy. You will be susceptible to way fewer problems.

We have had full access to this knowledge for thousands of years. Martin Frobisher was doing it way back in the day. It has been an official holiday in Canada and the USA for quite some time as well.

On January 31, 1957, the Governor General of Canada issued a proclamation stating: “A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.”[2]

Thanksgiving has been celebrated nationally on and off since 1789, after a proclamation by George Washington.[2] It has been celebrated as a federal holiday every year since 1863, when, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens,” to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November.[3] Together with Christmas and the New Year, Thanksgiving is a part of the broader holiday season.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonian 5:18

Isn’t Thanksgiving a cool holiday? If you do not live in Canada or the USA, do you have a national Christian holiday, other than Christmas? The wisdom behind being thankful is one great reason why all leaders, including those who aren’t even Christian, should use the Word of God as a guide and plumb-line for all of their decisions. As Christians, we know this. We know that we have access to The Unstoppable Word of God.

Our website,, has been created for the very purpose of sending the Word of God out into the world, by way of very creative media. I believe that, just like Thanksgiving, the Word of God has so much wisdom that we can apply it to a wounded world just like ointment. We can see peoples eyes open up to the way, truth and the life. We want to see people come to Jesus.

We are developing some really cool resources and we would love for you to join us on this journey. Details on one of our big projects can be found on our website. Fill out the following form to be added to our mailing list.

I have a lot to say. I am thankful for you. Thanks for reading this blog post. I am so thankful for my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am also thankful for my amazing wife and kids. I have a great extended family and Church family. God has always provided for me and has never left me with any reason to ever doubt Him and for that… I am also thankful. I have had some cool opportunities to work with great people. I get to have fun doing video production for a living (I have pasted my demo reel below)… how can I not be thankful for that? Being able to focus my abilities on advancing God’s Kingdom through creative means (UnstoppableWord) is a dream come true for me and for all these things and more, I am forever thankful.
